well-made, heavy-duty product. Excellent service and delivery
I ordered one of these to help with pulling down mature trees (along with a chainsaw of course). I have an older Wyeth-Scott model but wanted a second one to get more angle on the trees and drop them precisely. This new model is just like the old one. Built well with heavy-duty cable, pulleys, and sprocket. I slide a long pipe over the handle to get more leverage and these things can pull. Shipping was super quick. Very satisfied.

American Power Puller
The above manufacturer states that the model 15002 is a 4 ton puller. Why is it sold as a 3 ton? This was my second puller. The first one I bought was inexpensive and the aluminum holding pawl broke. Tried it out for the first time on an 80 ft. poplar tree to pull it off another that it had fallen on. It budged it. Nervous, I was unwilling to keep trying to move it. Having heard stories of cables snapping while in the Navy and difficulty moving the handle this tool is not for the faint hearted. I had it anchored to another tree with a 3 thousand lb rated cable (doubled) but it was chest high, For novices like myself, with medium strength, I recommend anchoring it low for maximum leverage. Too high and it is difficult to use one's weight to pull. Also the directions don't adequately explain the process of releasing the tension. It states that the holding pawl must first be released and the the handle advanced. That is not possible with the top pawl holding the reel in place. The handle must be advanced first and then the holding pawl manually lifted and advanced one tooth at a time until the extreme tension is released. After lessening one tooth at a time eventually one can move the handle forward two to four teeth at a time to advance the holding pawl up the reel. This description would have saved me time. I realize there was no other way to release the tension now but better description would have helped the novice (me) greatly. Quality is exceptional. I wish I had bought this one first. Like any tool it takes using it to learn how best to use it. Try small jobs first!

When I got this, I said "oh no, more cheap Chinese junk". To my surprise, this is a heavy duty cast cage puller. The box states that it is 4 ton and not 3, but after digging around and chopping a few roots of a 8" scrub oak stump, I was able to pull it out with no problem using this puller. Great tool!
